Description
"Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004) was a French photographer widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern photojournalism. He is best known for his candid and spontaneous photographs of people and events, which captured the essence of 20th-century life and helped define the art of photography.Cartier-Bresson started taking photographs in the 1930s, and his work quickly gained recognition for its technical excellence and its ability to capture fleeting moments of human emotion and interaction. He co-founded Magnum Photos, a cooperative agency for freelance photographers, in 1947, which allowed him and other photographers to maintain control over their images and their artistic vision. Throughout his career, Cartier-Bresson traveled extensively and photographed a wide variety of subjects, from the streets of Paris to the aftermath of World War II to the rise of communism in China. He also published several books of his photography, including """"""""The Decisive Moment,"""""""" which has become a classic in the field. Today, Cartier-Bresson's photographs are highly sought after by collectors and are considered some of the most important and influential images of the 20th century.
