Description
An uber-rare item! A brass lock from the Duluth and Northern Minnesota Railroad. Made by the Wilson Bohannan Company of New York, this lock has a patent date of June 25, 1879, along with the Wilson Bohannan hallmark on the back side of the clasp. D&NMRR is stamped on the front of the clasp. The D&NM was a logging railroad based in Knife River, MN. In 1915, the main line extended 99 miles, and the railroad had over 350 miles of track with branchlines and spurs. The railroad was only in existence from 1898 to 1923, and artifacts are virtually impossible to find. This is, to our knowledge, only one of two known D&NM locks in existence. Comes with original chain; key cover does not spring back.
