Marie Wilner was born in 1910 and was an American painter known for her urban landscapes and genre scenes. She lived and worked primarily in New York City. Wilner received her education at the Art Students League in New York and the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Wilner's paintings often depicted everyday scenes of New York City, capturing the energy and vibrancy of the city through her use of color and brushwork. She exhibited her work widely throughout her career, including at the National Academy of Design, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Her work is held in the collections of the Butler Institute of American Art and the Newark Museum, among others. Wilner continued to paint throughout her life, and her work remains highly regarded for its ability to capture the essence of New York City in the mid-twentieth century. She passed away in 1995.
