Description

Lorenzo Williams (American, 20th Century) Sculpture. Title - Patriotism. Life size painted fiberglass horse sculpture. Sold at The Horseplay Gala Auction in 2004. Measures 91 inches long, inches tall, 77 inches high, 18 inches wide. Green base measures 72 inches long, 35 inches wide with a metal plaque marked Patriotism, Lorenzo Williams, United Defense. Auction catalog and newspaper articles and other information included. In good condition with inconsistencies to the varnish on the top.

From Rcboe.org: Lorenzo Williams is from North Augusta SC,he has been a professional artist for twenty five years or more, but he is no stranger to the arts. He has been drawing since kindergarten and was self-taught until he received his Bachelor Degree of Art in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Carolina in Aiken, SC, in 1996. In 1999, he received his Master degree of Art in Teaching, Lander University Greenwood SC. Mr. Williams has done a variety of solo exhibits, with his work chosen for major exhibits throughout the South. He has won numerous local and statewide awards including: Poster Artist for the Moja Art Festival, Charleston, SC 1992. Elected Teacher of the Year at Butler High School, Augusta GA 2003-2004. Served as Executive Director of Jessye Norman School of the Arts for 2004-2006 school years. He was a Star Teacher for 2007-2008 school years at Butler and chosen for the Champion Award in Education in 2009, a proclamation presented by the Mayor of Augusta. He continues to teach in the Richmond County school district in the Fine Arts Department. My goal is to inspire, motivate, and encourage others to live their dreams to the fullest.
