Jackson Pollock Painting for the Film "Pollock". Lisa Lawley (American, 20th Century). Title: Male and Female. Acrylic on canvas painting of the Jackson Pollock painting used in the film Pollock. The original painting "Male and Female" resides in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The painting was painted in 1999 by the artist Lisa Lawley and used specifically for the much heralded film "Pollock", an academy award winning 2000 movie. The American independent film was directed by and starred Ed Harris as Jackson Pollock. Marcia Gay Harden won Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her portrayal of artist Lee Krasner. Ed Harris was nominated for Best Actor. The painting is in a NY studio scene - early in the film.

The acrylic on canvas painting is stamped on the reverse: This painting is a reproduction. It is intended for use as a set dressing in the production Pollock only. It may not be sold or used in any other manner without the written permission of: The Pollock-Krasner Foundation & The Artists Rights Society 65 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10012. Included with the painting is a dated March 5, 2020 letter from The Pollock-Krasner Foundation giving written permission to Myers Auction Gallery to sell the painting. The letter is signed by Ronald D. Spencer, Chairman and CEO of The Pollock-Krasner Foundation.

The painting measures 72.5 inches high, 47.75 inches wide. The frame measures 73.25 inches high, 49 inches wide and #207 P. The painting is in good original condition. Also included is a copy of the 1989 book entitled Jackson Pollock - An American Saga by Naifeh and Smith.

From Thepaintingcenter.org: Lisa Lawley (20th Century), a Member Emeritus of The Painting Center, holds a M.F.A. from Yale and a B.F.A. from Cooper Union, where she currently teaches. In 1999, her work was shown in Spain, Ireland, and in New York. Solo shows include Beitzel Gallery (1987 and 1988) and Twining Gallery (1984 and 1985). Group Shows include The American Academy, Fines Arts Museum, and Roslyn. Her awards include a Greenshields Grant in 1976 and the Kimball Traveling Grant, Yale, in 1982.
