Provenance: Ex-collection H. W., North Rhine-Westphalia, from before 1980; Acquired at auction, December 2022, Munich (Germany).
Size: 10 x 7.5 cm.
Loeschcke lucerne type VIII with rosette. Characterised by a circular body and a short, rounded mouthpiece, the Loeschcke type VIII, the earliest examples of which date from the time of Claudius, experienced a tremendous flowering at the end of the 1st century AD and for the next two centuries. It continued to exist on a smaller scale during the 4th century and occasionally into the 5th century.
