Relief in terracotta and wood, measuring: 43 x 43 x 13 cm. Miguel and Jeronimo Francisco Garcia, canons of the Collegiate Church of El Salvador in Granada, were two prominent Granada sculptors active between the 16th and 17th centuries, who can be placed in the transition phase from naturalism to early Baroque. They worked in clay and wood, and are known for a group of Ecce Homos that are usually small in size, meticulously modeled, and highly expressive. Recently, a set of terracotta reliefs representing different saints in penance have been added to his catalog of works: Saint John the Baptist, Saint Jerome. The crucified figure in the sacristy of the Cathedral of Granada, traditionally considered the work of Montanes, has been attributed to them.
