Description
GERMAN ROSENTHAL SIGNED PORCELAIN HORSE PLAQUE, depicting the profile of a white Arabian-type horse wearing a red bridle, signed "Th. Karner" to right bottom, and housed in a carved giltwood frame. One retaining Rosenthal label to back and one with stamp. Theodor Karner for Rosenthal Porcelain, Selb, Bavaria, Germany. First half 20th century. 12" x 9 3/4" sight, 16 3/4" x 14 1/2" OA.
Catalogue Note: Professor Theodor Karner (German, 1884-1966) was a sculptor and painter of exquisite animal figures. He was employed by porcelain factories including Nymphenburg, Rosenthal, Allach, and Eschenbach.

From a Shenandoah Valley private collection.
Condition
Plaque undamaged; frame having some expected wear including to gilt and minor cracks. Not examined out of frame.
