For your consideration is a rare signed Rosenthal porcelain plaque of Thomas Gainsborough's famous painting "The Boy Blue". "The Boy Blue" was originally painted by Gainsborough in 1770 and is currently housed in The Huntingdon Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens in Huntingdon, California. This hand-painted reproduction was done by well-known Rosenthal designer Carl Schneider who is responsible for some of Rosenthal's most sought after designs. The lower right corner of the painting is signed "T. Gainsborough / copie Schneider" - giving credit to both the original artist and the person who recreated his work on this large porcelain plaque. The plaque measures 12 1/2"(l) by 10 1/4"(w) and is housed in a gilt wood frame. The reverse of the porcelain plaque is marked with the green Rosenthal stamp and the word "hand painted". This offering weighs 4 pounds, 6 ounces.
