Signed Haegert, attr Dorothy Haegert. B: 1938 original art photo collage of a girl with knapsack dated 88. Born in Toronto in 1938, photographer Dorothy Haegert came to Victoria in 1945 and later studied at the Vancouver School of Art, Banff School of Fine Arts and UBC. She spent five years preparing Children of the First People, a 1979 B.C. Provincial Museum exhibit that served as the basis for a 1983 book of the same name from Randy Fred's Tillicum Library initiative. The book of photography was reissued in 1990 with memoirs from ten Aboriginal elders.
