Description
ROOKWOOD EMMA D. FOERTMEYER (1866-1895) ART POTTERY CREAMER, standard glaze featuring polychrome hand-painted daisy flower design. Marks to underside include incised artist's initials "E.D.F.", impressed Rookwood logo with four flame points, "330", and "W". Together with a Van Briggle tulip-form vase having Ming blue glaze. Two pieces total. Rookwood Pottery, Cincinnati, OH; Van Briggle Pottery, Colorado Springs, CO. Rookwood example dated 1890, Van Briggle circa 1920. 3 1/2" H.
Catalogue Note: Born in Cincinnati, Emma Foertmeyer began working for the Rookwood Pottery in 1887. She sadly died of tuberculosis in Nashville in 1895 at the age of 29.
