Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $500**

Pre-Columbian, Peru, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. This is a trio of large copper axe blades with flared half-circle shapes at one end; the edges are sharpened and these objects were used as tools/weapons. We know that tumis were sometimes used to sacrifice llamas to the Sun god. The Paracas people, one of the early residents of the Andes, used the tumi for trepanation; it is unknown if later cultures did similar, but they certainly could have. In modern Peru, a tumi on the wall is a symbol of good luck. Size of largest: 3.9" L x 3.25" W (9.9 cm x 8.3 cm)

Provenance: private Ventura County, California, USA collection, acquired in the 1980s to 1990s
