Item Details
Description
For your consideration is this collection of two vintage Butte Special flat top beer cans from the Butte Brewing Company, in Butte, Montana circa. 1950s. The Butte Brewing Co.'s first batches of beer were produced in uptown Butte, Montana Territory, in November 1875. The boisterous "Silver Camp on the Great Butte" contributed to the Butte Brewing Company's expansion between 1880 and 1885. The young brewery was transformed into Montana's famous leader in business, community activity, and of course as the producer of "Butte Beer - The Ideal Brew" in 1886 by German brewer Henry Muntzer and then by Irishman J.V. Collins. The brewery had shut down by the 1960s, but the famous Butte Beer's spirit persisted. In 2015, The Butte Brewing Company reopened. The cans show different labels with the first one showing a red background with "Butte" in white lettering. Below that it reads, "Special Quality Controlled Beer". The can shows gold and white accents throughout. At the very bottom of the can it reads, "Brewed And Filled By Butte Brewing Company, Butte, Montana". The can has been opened on the top. The second can shows the same white and gold accents with a different logo reading, "Butte Special Beer" in gold and red lettering. The bottom reads, "Butte Special Beer - Brewed And Filled By Butte Brewing Company, Butte, Montana". The can has been opened on the top. Overall both cans show good condition despite their vintage age with no dents or creases in the cans. Both logos are in good readable condition. The cans measure 2 5/8" in diameter and 4 3/4" in height.
