Description
Provenance: Property from the Saul Brandman Foundation. Beverly Hill, California. Basket in red tone Sumida pottery fabrication, circa Meiji period, unsigned. Country of origin:Japan. This basket has a drip glaze design on the handle continuing on to the top of the body that is in tones of brown, tan, and cream. There is a two-part scalloped shape on the surround in the front. There is an applied pottery design ofthree male child figures on the front with a basket of balls in the center. There is also an applied male child figure on the back, and he is peaking over the top on the surround of the back. Thisbasket is pinched above the base, and it measures 8.25 inches tall by 7.5 inches wide by 2.5 inches deep. Provenance: Property from the Saul BrandmanFoundation.
