Rome, Imperial Period, Trajan, ca. 99 to 100 CE. A superb Rome minted copper AS coin of Trajan (reigned 98 to 117). Obverse: "IMP CAES NERVA TRAIAN AVG GERM P M" (Imperator Caesar, Nerva Trajan, Emperor (Augustus) Conqueror of the Germans, high priest) with the laureate head of Trajan facing right in profile. The reverse: "TR POT COS III PP SC" (Holder of tribunician power, Consul for the third time, Father of the nation, by decree of the Senate) with Victor draped, advancing left, holding shield inscribed SPQR (The Senate and the Roman People) in right hand and palm frond in left. Size: 1.04" Diameter (2.6 cm); weight: 9.7 grams
