Provenance: According to family tradition this piece descended directly through the family of John Breckinridge, Jr. (1797-1841);
Thence by descent to the present owner's late wife.

Condition Report: This work is lined, and there are some areas where paint is separating from lining. There is craquelure in subject’s face which has been fine line in-painted. This work is dirty, has in-paint in background and hair but very little in the subject's face.
