Griffen, Smith & Hill Etruscan Majolica Swan-Form Paperweight
Recorded as model no. K3, circa 1880
Naturalistically modeled as a white swan resting among reeds and lily pads, the brown-ground oval base with a band of overlapping green leaves, impressed GSH monogram mark, height 2 1/2 inches, length 4 inches; Together with a Matched Griffen, Smith & Hill Etruscan Majolica Blue-Ground Swan and Lily Sardine Box and Cover and Stand. Circa 1880, rectangular, the flat cover with a white swan nesting among reeds, the sides and stand molded with blossoming yellow water lilies alternate with lily pads, within brown rope twist rims, impressed GSH monogram mark and black painted 15 to stand, the box impressed uppercase mark and model no. N1, width of stand 9 inches.
