Description
A collection of six small antique Russian hand painted porcelain plates by the factory of the Partnership M.S. Kuznetsov. The plates are adorned with hand painted floral and foliage motifs. Five plates are marked with a Partnership M.S. Kuznetsov green ink mark, and numbered, on the backside. One plate is marked with a I. E. Kuznetsov Factory blue ink, on the backside. Circa: late 19th century. The original factory, Brothers Kuznetsov at Novo Kharitonovo, was founded in 1810. In 1892 M S Kuznetsov purchased the the well established Francis Gardner Porcelain Factory. By the early twentieth century it had taken over many smaller factories and was soon responsible for almost two thirds of pottery and porcelain output in the Russian Empire. Produced goods of such fine quality that in 1902 the owner was bestowed the title of court purveyor.
