Description
Below is the statement from an independent Art Appraiser who examined the Pagoda Tower last week:
"I have had a close look at the decorative pagoda your client is in the process of selling. The Unusually large pagoda was assembled in the basement, and at 84 inches in height was nearly touching the ceiling. The pagoda is constructed in traditional hexagonal plan with a base measuring 18 inches in diameter. The facades of the seven graduated stories are veneered with uniform rectangular pieces of sliced, polished, and inked bone applied in an alternating horizontal tile pattern. The veneer is well polished and is of uniform cream color having the appearance of ivory, identifiable as bone only with the use of a ten power loupe.
The facades of the pagoda are decorated with applied carded dragons and clouds of thin pieces of ivory. The architectural elements such as arches, roof supports, and the three large zoomorphic columns supporting the entire pagoda are also made of the what appear to be pieces of carved ivory that have been cut, shaped, and glued to encase wooden supports.
The bone and ivory is in uniformly good condition throughout, having no apparent shrinkage, curling or cracking, and only one loss of a slice of veneer missing from the underside of the lowest story.
