Description
**Originally Listed At $400**
Kent Lemon (American, b. 1960). "February 10th" oil on canvas, 1985. Signed on the lower right. An elegant still life by Kent Lemon featuring a copper kettle, a white porcelain lidded vessel, and a juicy orange on a silver platter as well as two petite bowls and silver spoons on a white tablecloth. The fact that the title of this piece is "February 10th" suggests that Lemon painted it on that day. Still life paintings are magical, because they encourage us to appreciate everyday objects. When presented in a tasteful arrangement and rendered so skillfully, these ordinary objects are exalted with new meaning that extends beyond the everyday. Size: 10" L x 14" W (25.4 cm x 35.6 cm) Size: 15.4" L x 19.375" W (39.1 cm x 49.2 cm)
Kent Lemon studied at the University of Colorado, Boulder and the Parsons School of Design, New York. Following his years at Parsons, Lemon returned to Colorado and apprenticed with Ned Jacob and Mark Daily in Denver, Colorado. He is beloved for his plein-air paintings and his astute use of color. Among his greatest inspirations is the masterful John Singer Sargent.
