Description
Pass no. 1069, issued for the year 1879 to (illegible). Ink has faded. Preprinted signature of supt. James Converse. Black print and vignette of locomotive crossing Guadalupe River Bridge. Printed on blue paper by Woodward, Tiernan & Hale, St. Louis. Originally the Buffalo Bayou, Brazos and Colorado Railway Company, they changed names to Galveston, Harrisburg & San Antonio on July 27, 1870. The Buffalo Bayou, Brazos and Colorado was the first railroad to begin operating in Texas, the first part of the Southern Pacific Transportation Company to begin operating, and the second railroad west of the Mississippi River.
