Description
Germany, circa 1900, all twelve with richly gilded & finely cast handles & blades, with chiseled details and engraved with scrolled & stippled motifs, all bearing impressed silver marks denoting .800 silver fineness, maker's marks for Koch & Bergfeld, and retail marks for Gebruder Somme. Each measuring 7” long, with a combined silver weight of 435 grams or 13.98 troy ounces. Koch & Bergfeld of Bremen have been in production since 1829 and are recognized worldwide as one of the leading manufacturers of luxury silverware throughout Europe. They are referenced in ‘Art Nouveau & Art Deco Silver’ by Annelies Krekle-Aalberse.
