Description
Two white silk stockings, both embroidered with the VR royal cypher, originally bequeathed by Miss May Lambert, Lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria, to her paid companion Miss Thora Vigholt, of Norway. After Miss Vigholt's death in 1976, the stockings were given by her relatives to her friend and neighbor Juliet Quicke. Miss Quicke had the stockings authenticated by the Victoria and Albert Museum. Juliet Quicke is survived by her husband in London. Further information available to the winning bidder.
