Description
A Tsogo carved wooden mask, Gabon, Central Africa. Early to Mid 20th century. According to research such masks were used during bwete/bwiti initiation ceremonies for young people in the community. Wood, kaolin and other pigments. The masks were worn during Iboga ritual and trance divination. The mask measures 12.75 x 8.25 inches. A metal display stand can also be included for an additional $50.00. Provenance: A Brussels Belgium Art Gallery/Dealer.
