Item Details
Description
During the period following the Civil War and on up into the early 20th century, saloons thrived with every type of gambling game imaginable. This coin toss game, AKA "Frog Toss", was a simple yet productive game for the saloon. The surface of the game board has holes, holes with hoops, a spinning wheel in a hole and the "FROG" hole, a cast iron frog with a large open mouth. The object of the game was to establish a distance, throw iron coins, or silver dollars, onto the board, and depending which hole you hit, the coins dropped down into a point slot, and the person with the highest points won the round. CONSIDERATIONS: This example is in is in the best condition of the few that have been found, and possibly the only one with an original iron coin. Remainders of orange paint on the frog, original numbering on the coin slots, and all parts are original to the game. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 17 - 3/4" x 22 - 1/4" x 35".
