FIVE OVERLAY GLASS SNUFF BOTTLES
Chinese, early to mid-20th century, glass. Including:
1. Mustard yellow on turquoise overlay bottle depicting travelers with mule crossing stone walls under the sky, two seals marking both overlaid panels; bejeweled stopper with metal spoon.
2. Green overlay of pagoda and garden scene with figure to a yellow bottle; oval foot rim, the brass-collared stopper with brass spoon.
3. Small, vasiform celadon bottle emulating jade, with overlay scene in yellow on black of figures and rams (san yang kai tai) amongst trees. Jadeite orb to the tall metal collar with spoon.
4. Cranberry overlay, yellow snowstorm glass bottle depicting censers and tripods; green and white stopper with wooden spoon.
5. A dusky, orchid pink, opaque and elegantly formed bottle of mustard, green, and yellow overlay, depicting to one side a figure with potted flora and a frog, the other a figure with deer. Pink stopper with spoon.
Tallest bottle: 2.9 in. (7.4 cm.), with stopper: 3.25 in. (8.3 cm.); total 306 grams
