Description
1840-1860. Metal, wax. Tripod balled feet rising to a thin flat metal plate with a metal central rod which holds coiled beehive shaped wax. A scissor-like metal spring holds the scissors in place with one handle holding a metal spring and other ending in a hook. The other end of scissors has a flat shield like which opens in a centre slope down the blade to hold candle for melting candle wax to seal envelopes. Early Lighting, Rushlight Club – pg. 122 13-26.
