Sandu Liberman (Romanian) was awarded the gold medal at the 1952 International Art Festival in Romania. That same year he was commissioned to illustrate the large encyclopedia Romania, and was appointed Official Portrait Artist of Romania. He went to Israel in 1962 and settled there. Liberman was commissioned by the Government of Israel to make portraits on many occasions.
