Description
Classic vintage ceramic Scheurich oxblood red vase, marked on the bottom "Scheurich Made in Germany 629-18"; 1990s. One of the Scheurich's most successful Mid-Century designs manufactured from the 1960s to the end of the 20th century.
The vase is 7.1/2" 19.1cm] tall; 2.1/2" [6.4cm] across at the top, 4" [10.2cm] across at the bottom, Scheurich's oxblood glaze is also inside; very good condition.
In 1927, Alois Scheurich jointly established a company named "Scheurich and Greulich" (S&G). S&G distributed low cost ceramic and glass items. The success of S&G allowed Alois Scheurich to establish his own ceramics factory in Kleinheubach in 1954. The Scheurich company became one of the largest manufacturers of ceramics in Germany from the 1950s to the 1980s. They exported more than any other ceramic company in Germany. They offered the widest range of shapes and glazes. The designer Heinz Siery is responsible for many of the forms which Scheurich produced.
