Five-Piece Mahogany Bedroom Suite, Attributed to the Warerooms of Prudent Mallard

ca. 1871, comprised of a bed, h. 79", inside w. 62", l. 82-1/2", outside w. 72", l. 91", a single-door armoire, h. 114", w. 57", d. 24", a double-door commode, h. 31-1/2", w. 40-1/2", d. 22", a single-door nightstand, h. 32-1/4", w. 20-1/2", d. 18", and a dressing bureau, h. 95", w. 48", d. 24", the bed with a cabochon-carved crest over a paneled headboard, joined to the footposts by rails with open carved scroll brackets, the armoire with an integral cabochon-carved crest over a single mirrored door, the dresser with a like crest, over a mirror on a marble-top chest, the commode and night stand each with a marble top and drawer over door. h. 32-1/4", w. 20-1/2", d. 18"

In good refinished and restored condition. All pieces are sturdy and functional, and all with normal, minor shrinkage, wear and indications of age and use. The side rails of the bed have a number of blemishes along their tops. The headboard finials are replaced. This may once have been a full-tester bed. Marble tops are original. The commode top is missing a backsplash and side gallery. There is a functional key that works with the dresser, armoire and commode. The mirrors have either been re-silvered or replaced. The armoire retains its interior medial belt with a drawer. There are some slender slivers of veneer loss along the perimeter of the door. The base exhibits a number of blemishes and some loss of color.
