Printed duplicate contract, in English and Hawaiian, filled out in ink, with official revenue stamp affixed. 25.5x40.8 cm (10x16"), folded.
One year employment contact between the Union Mill Company, a sugar plantation and mill in Kohala, on the big island of Hawaii, and the laborer Matsumoto, evidently an immigrant from Japan or at least of Japanese descent. Signed by the manager James Renton, witnessed by W.P. McDougal, and with Matsumoto's name in English and Japanese characters, and his mark X. Docketed in ink on the reverse.
Condition
A bit of wear at folds, very good.
