79A. BOXED VICTORIAN PAPER DOLL "THE LITTLE GIRL’S DOLL". Two 4", identical, front and back, cardboard paper dolls depicting a young girl posing with hands folded. Each doll has a wooden stand and four double sided costumes with an object, pet, or scenery, including a stick and hoop, a dog to walk, a doll in her image, a vase of flowers, a book, needlepoint, a little lamb and a garland of flowers overhead. There is one extra costume without accessory and not original to set. Set comes in a 6 1/2" x 4 1/4" paper covered pressed board box with applied lithographed cover depicting a group of little girls in an outdoor setting. The title is written in four languages "Kleine Madchen Puppe - Madmoiselle Pouppe - Frantoccina Da Ragazze - The Little Girl's Doll". Germany, circa 1850. Commentary: Box is open at sides and has damaged top gilt border and sides; Doll and costumes in very good/excellent condition with normal aging. Estimate: 900/1400
