Ancient Islamic Seljuk/Ghurid Green Splashed sgraffiato ware Bowl with Design of a Flower, Circa 11th-13th Century.Earthenware bowl with incised decoration in a white slip and painted in green.Measurement: 15.5 cm dia.Condition: intactCeramics from Bamiyan took the form of both red earthenware and white fritware. Earthenware bowls were most often decorated with the sgraffito technique. The decoration was either incised in the white slip or scraped away to reveal the red color of the clay. Then the pieces were decorated with colors in a transparent glaze and fired.Islamic Medieval-type bowls, both earthenware and fritware, often have traces of the tripod that was used to stack them during firing.
