This "day at the beach" French seaside scene features a handful of adults sitting on upright wooden chairs placed in the sand. One woman is walking in the background and a child is playing in the sand. Everyone is fully dressed, many are bundled up in several layers of clothing and coats, and all wear hats. 3/4 of the frame is dedicated to the cloudy sky; the remainder features the people and the sandscape; a sliver of the frame is dedicated to the blue-green sea itself. Three tall posts of flags, each with many small French tricolore, blow in the wind. Many sailboats are out at sea too, taking advantage of the windy day. A lovely impressionistic portrait of a relaxing off-season beach day.
