East Asia, China, Song Dynasty, ca. 960 to 1279 CE; Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A fine set of 3 hand-built pottery bowls from the Song and Ming Dynasties. Two bowls from the Song Dynasty bear squat feet and are covered in pale green celadon glaze, 1 with smooth, uniform surfaces, and the other with a raised flower petal motif along the exterior walls. The Ming Dynasty bowl features a blue-on-white motif with abstract cobalt motifs that are covered by thick sea deposits. The Ming bowl and larger Song bowl are covered in ample marine deposits indicative of being submerged in a shipwreck, however the smaller Song Dynasty bowl is all but devoid of such deposits. Size of largest: 5.7" W x 1.75" H (14.5 cm x 4.4 cm)

Condition
Repair to smaller Song Dynasty bowl, with expert resurfacing along break lines; larger Song bowl and Ming bowl are intact and very good. Each bowl has light abrasions, nicks, and fading to pigment commensurate with age and being submerged. Nice preservation to overall forms.
