Description
Chinese Guan Ware-style Vase, probably late 19th=-early 20th century in date, emulates in shape and glaze the celadon Guan :official" ware made for the imperial court in the 12-13th centuries. The stoneware base is simply shaped with a neck that emulates a quiver for holding arrows--a common shape for celadon vases during this era. The glaze is distinctive for the all over crackle pattern, caused by the uneven cooling of the thick glaze over the base. . A carved wooden base comes with the vase.
