Joan Miro, Spanish, 1893 to 1983, limited edition black patinated bronze sculpture, Moonbird, or Oiseau lunaire, also called The Lunar Bird. Circa: the late 20th century. Signed with etching, Miro, with a monogram, and numbered 2 of 5. Miro first began to make small bronzes in 1944, his interest in sculpture began when he was just nineteen. This object has stylistic and thematic similarities with Miros other cosmically themed works. In 1966, he cast it as a monumental bronze. Joan Miro, a Catalan painter, sculptor, and ceramicist. Earning international acclaim, his work has been interpreted as Surrealism but with a personal style, sometimes also veering into Fauvism and Expressionism.
