Description
Important large vase Koloman Moser (design of form and decoration), Loetz Witwe, Klostermühle for E. Bakalowits' Söhne, Vienna 1903 Colorless glass, with silver-yellow powder fusions. Broadly entwined with colorless, brown-veined thread and twisted fourfold into festooned arcs. Eight vertical rows of dots, alternating dark blue and brown-orange. Reduced and iridescent gold to red-violet. H. 48 cm. Lit.: Ricke/Vlcek, Lötz Bohemian Glass Vol. II, p. 309, No. 85/5109 (form); Ricke/Vlcek, Lötz Bohemian Glass Vol. I, p. 163, No. 164 (form u. decor). Koloman Moser created numerous designs for E. Bakalowits Söhne and occasional glass designs for Loetz. His form as well as decor designs influenced all fields of arts and crafts. For a long time an exact connotation to Moser was not secured, this was due to the fact that the corresponding cut in the archive of the Museum Sumavy was severely damaged. However, the design could be reconstructed in Koloman Moser's work and is clearly attributable to him.
