Description
Vase ''opal phenomenon Gre 358'' Loetz Witwe, Klostermühle, for E. Bakalowits' Söhne, Vienna 1901 Colorless glass with thin opal underlay. Broadly spun with colorless veined silver yellow and irregularly warped. Below the mouth orange-red fusion with silver yellow, distorted into tongues. Above the base, melting into tongues in dark brown with silver yellow. Reduced and iridescent. H. 12 cm. Lit.: Ricke/Vlcek, Lötz Bohemian Glass Vol. II, p. 291, No. 85/3963 (form); Ricke/Vlcek, Lötz Bohemian Glass Vol. I, p. 123, No. 91 (decoration). The elaborate phenomenon decor by Franz Hofstötter was able to assert itself after the Paris World's Fair and was further executed.
