A historical posthumous 1st edition aquatint etching titled Carnival Folly from the Dispartes (Follies / Irrantionalities) ca. 1815-19. Alternate title is Disparate de Carnabal. Published by the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid in 1864 under the title Los Proverbios, Plate 14 (The Proverbs). Los disparates, also known as Proverbios or Suenos, is a series of prints in etching and aquatint, with retouching in drypoint and engraving, created by Spanish painter and printmaker Francisco Goya between 1815 and 1823. From the private collection of the Franklin 1715 Gallery. Dimensions: Plate: 9.625h x 13.75 / Sheet: 13.0625h x 18.625w (unframed). In good vintage condition with some signs of age. Francisco Goya (1746-1828) was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker. He is considered the most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His paintings, drawings, and engravings reflected contemporary historical upheavals and influenced important 19th and 20th century painters.
