An artful pair of Santa Clara Pueblo blackware pottery by Southwest Native Clarissa Lafoya. This lot features a round glossy bowl and a vessel with a coil designed handle. Signed on bottom. Clarissa Tafoya is a Santa Clara Pueblo potter. Her mother and grandmother, Rose Tafoya and Lucaria Tafoya, taught her the art of making pottery. In 2001, Tafoya married Timothy Roller, a Santa Clara potter who is the grandson of Margaret Tafoya and son of Toni Roller. She is known for carved redware and blackware in unique shapes. From a private collection. Dimensions: 3.5"h x 6.25" dia (bowl) / 4.5"h x 5"dia (vessel). In very good vintage condition.
