Description
Signed woodblock print of a giant sequoia in Yosemite, titled lower left in pencil "Grizzly Giant - Mariposa Grove" and signed in pencil lower right "Della Taylor Hoss"; matted and under glass in wood frame with linen liner; sight 6"W, 9 3/8"H; frame 17"W, 20"H; three small spots of foxing on outer border of woodcut, some soiling to linen liner---Hoss was a printmaker, painter and illustrator. She grew up and studied in California and always had a family connection to the National Park Service. Hoss and her husband lived in Yosemite Valley for many years. Stanford University Press used her linocut prints as illustrations for Mary Curry Tresidder's book "Trees of Yosemite" published in 1932.
