Julius Henry "Groucho" Marx (1890-1977) was an American comedian, actor, writer, stage/television star and vaudeville performer. He is generally considered one of the most influential comedians of the 20th century, known for his trademark quick wit and signature greasepaint mustache. Groucho gained further notoriety for being a member of the Marx Brothers comedy group, performing alongside with his actual brothers, who went under the respective stage names of Chico, Harpo, Gummo, and Zeppo. Between 1905 and 1949 they appeared on both the vaudeville stage and in motion pictures, with some of their most notable films being Duck Soup (1933) and Night at the Opera (1935).
