Description
**Originally Listed At $300**
South Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, ca. late 20th to early 21st century CE, signed by artist Dan DeLuz (1934-2012) or his grandson, Shaun DeLuz. A beautiful bowl of a petite size, hand-carved from elegantly grained koa wood, with a round but stable base and a thin rim overhanging the deep basin. The smooth exterior walls have been meticulously polished to imbue as much depth to the graining as possible and to bring out the fine coffee, caramel, and espresso tones. A wonderful example made from wood of the flowering Acacia Koa tree. Interestingly, in the Hawaiian language, the word koa means fearless warrior. Size: 3.875" in diameter x 2.5" H (9.8 cm x 6.4 cm)
Provenance: private Newport Beach, California, USA collection
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
