Description
Circa 17th -18th Century AD. A 19th Century Ottoman Empire Quran with sumptuous carpet pages, illuminated in multi-colour pigments and burnished gold leaf. Intricate fine decoration multi coloured throughout. Copied by Hafez Ibrahim Khulusi ibn Ahmed (ḤÄfẓ IbrÄhÄ«m al-Khuluṣī Ibn ʾAḥmad RÄshid bin FrzÄdÄh), a pupil of Khalil Shukri al-bazawese (KhalÄ«l ShukrÄ« al-BazÅ«sÄ«) also known as KhawÄjah Thuluth, in the Adliyah library (Maktab al-maÊ¿Ärif al-Ê¿adlÄ«ah). The library al-Ê¿adlÄ«ah was named after the Sultan Mahmoud Pasha (Sulá¹Än MaḥmÅ«d)(d. 1474) who was commonly named Adle (Ê¿AdlÄ«). Original cover with Rococo decoration.
