Description
North Africa, Sahara Desert, Late Stone Age, ca. 50,000 to 10,000 years ago. A pair of hand-made quartz crystal labrets or ear plugs hand shaped using a pecking and polishing method with stone and sand. Both are semi- translucent with a slightly bulbous end that prevented the tubular point from falling out of the chin or earlobe. Evidence suggests these early cultures developed small mines to quarry chert and quartz. Size: 1.2" L x 0.35" W (3 cm x 0.9 cm)
