A delightful pottery jug presenting a spherical form crowned by a petite spout and twin loop handles, all sitting upon a round yet stable base. Intricate, hand-painted decoration adorns the exterior, featuring dozens of wavy and straight striations tightly packed into a nested geometric motif. Pottery vessels like this were used to hold oils or other liquids for religious rites and daily use. A lovely utilitarian example from the ancient Near East!
