Item Details
Description
Ancient Near East, Holyland, Early Bronze Age II, ca. 2900 to 2650 BCE. A delightful pottery jug presenting a spherical form crowned by a petite spout and twin loop handles, all sitting upon a round yet stable base. Intricate, hand-painted decoration adorns the exterior, featuring dozens of wavy and straight striations tightly packed into a nested geometric motif. Pottery vessels like this were used to hold oils or other liquids for religious rites and daily use. A lovely utilitarian example from the ancient Near East! Size: 3.6" Diameter x 4.1" H (9.1 cm x 10.4 cm)

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-prominent collector Daryl Kulok, New York City, New York, USA, acquired in the early 2000s
