Description
With a ground and air battle unfolding in the background, Dwight Eisenhower takes charge in this 1944 war bonds poster by Boris Chaliapin, entitled “Back 'em Up - Buy Extra Bonds”. Designed with an interesting monochromatic palette, the text urges the viewer to buy war bonds to support Eisenhower's troops. Dwight D. Eisenhower is most well known today as the 34th President of the United States, holding office from 1953-1961. He would have been a household name at this point of the war as General Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe. Note the five stars on his cap, an indicator of his prestigious General status. Boris Chaliapin (1904-1979) was a Russian born painter and illustrator who primarily lived and worked In America during his career. He is most wellknown for his cover designs for Time Magazine, which span three decades. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
