PAGE / ROCKINGHAM CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA STAVE-TYPE WOVEN-SPLINT SEWING BASKET, low circular form with X-wrapped rim, opposing small handles, and pronounced kick-up to bottom. Retaining likely original fabric lining and dry natural surface. Probably by one of the Nichols family of basketmakers, Page / Rockingham Co., VA. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. 3 1/2" H, 10 3/4" D rim.
Provenance: From the private collection of Jo Ann Warfield, Strasburg, VA.
Condition
Excellent overall condition with very minor wear. One handle cracked and somewhat loose.
