Description
An antique Japanese porcelain bowl of cinquefoil shape. Taisho period, 1912 to 1926. The beige bowl is richly decorated with hand-painted decor, the inside depicts parrots among wisteria and gerbera flowers, the outer side of the rims repeats the floral motif. The decoration is garnished with gilt accents. Hieroglyphical mark on the bottom: Bizan under the Shimizu family crest. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
